Joel's Journey
Several years ago, we met Joel at his building on East Road in Shoreditch, London. He had originally taken on the office space to build his marketing business, which he ran successfully for several years. But there was a problem – 80% of his space was sitting unused.
That's when Joel had an idea: what if he rented out individual desks? This simple question is where the Ofixu story really began.
His first guests were a recruitment company who only needed to be in central London four weeks at a time. It was flexible, it was simple, and it worked. Then the pandemic hit – and the concept exploded.
Suddenly, it wasn't just individual desks getting booked. Entire rooms and floors were being reserved through Ofixu. Teams were booking for extended periods – in one case, as long as 20 months. When Justin took his AI business into Shoreditch, he discovered he could get about 33% extra space for his money with far less red tape.
What started as a way to offset costs quickly became Joel's main income stream – generating over £100,000 in extra rental income through the platform. He made the decision to focus more on hosting his space, transitioning from a side hustle to a full-time venture.

Studio Shoreditch occupies a full building at 77 East Road, N1, plus 2 floors of the neighbouring 81-83 East Road. Recently upgraded with additional meeting space, Zoom pods, showers, more bike storage, and brand new facilities.
Although Joel remains an avid and enthusiastic web developer, his main hat is now hosting his workspace on Ofixu. He's a superb host – always giving people great advice, introductions to his network, and a great tonic.
